MEET SABRINA

Sabrina Bazzo has dedicated her life to two things: education and health care. For more than 30 years, she has worked as a professional public health educator, helping families and communities gain access to the tools they need to live healthier lives.

Her journey in public education began as a parent and volunteer. For over 15 years, she was an active PTA leader and school site volunteer, advocating for teachers, students, and families. In 2018, she was elected to the San Diego Unified School Board, where she is now in her fifth year of service. Under her leadership, San Diego Unified has earned recognition as the number one large urban school district in the nation.

WHY SHE’S RUNNING

Sabrina is running for State Senate because she believes California must remain a leader in protecting public education and expanding access to health care. Nearly 60% of the state’s budget is spent on these two areas, yet they continue to face threats from funding cuts and political attacks.

She knows from her experience on the school board and her decades of work in public health that California’s future depends on strong schools, affordable and accessible health care, and leadership that will stand firm in defending both.

A PERSONAL FIGHT FOR HEALTH CARE

For Sabrina, the fight to improve health care is deeply personal. In 2023, her husband Dave was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. As his primary caregiver, Sabrina spent countless hours in crowded emergency rooms and navigating an overwhelmed health care system. Dave passed away in June of 2025, leaving Sabrina with both heartbreak and determination.

That experience reinforced her commitment to fighting for families who face similar struggles. Sabrina’s priorities include investing in health care infrastructure, improving access to primary care, and ensuring that caregivers and families have the support they need during medical crises.

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

On the San Diego Unified School Board, Sabrina has shown the leadership and courage needed to take on tough challenges. She has worked with her colleagues to enact policies that protect immigrant families from ICE intimidation, supported federal action to safeguard democracy, and advanced equity and safety throughout San Diego schools.

Her record shows that she leads by listening, building consensus, and putting students and families first. That same commitment and integrity will guide her in Sacramento as she works to represent the residents of the 40th Senate District.
